FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Your outlined responsibilities as a Financial Controller are as follows:

  • Collaborating with the Group CFO to develop and implement financial and accounting policies, procedures, and strategies throughout the organization.
  • Creating the company’s annual plans, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics to guide business operations and strategy.
  • Establishing company-wide standards for systems, data, and processes.
  • Updating and implementing finance standard operating procedures (SOPs) across the group.
  • Designing and overseeing the implementation of a robust accounting framework and ensuring compliance with tax and statutory regulations.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of effective financial controls across the group’s operations.
  • Coordinating the consolidation of financial transactions and accounts from all business units and functions.
  • Preparing accurate and timely financial and management information, including tax, cash flow, and statutory accounts.
  • Coordinating the preparation of the company’s financial reports.
  • Managing the statutory reporting process and providing guidelines to operational finance teams.
  • Ensuring regular reconciliation of intra-group balances and investigating and resolving any variances.
  • Maintaining communication with external bodies such as regulatory organizations, auditors, solicitors, and banks.
  • Preparing and submitting Letters of Credit for importation of products.
  • Overseeing tax computation, remittance, insurance premium payments, and other statutory fees.
  • Providing technical training and guidance on financial accounting issues and developments.
  • Reviewing and presenting timely reports to the CFO based on weekly reports from various departments.
  • Assisting the CFO in financial risk management and control.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or line Manager.

What are we looking for

  • First Degree in Finance/ Accounting/ Economics
  • Possession of a postgraduate degree would be advantageous
  • Relevant professional qualification such as ICAN or ACCA
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role
  • Proficiency in finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Expertise in financial management and ability to solve complex financial problems
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial data and interpreting reports, statements, and projections
  • Strong commitment to integrity
  • Proficiency in using automated financial accounting and reporting applications
  • Good understanding of local and international financial regulatory standards
  • Demonstrates intuition and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong analytical and leadership abilities
  • Exhibits a high level of integrity and objectivity
  • Cultivates a culture of continuous improvement
