AAUW INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS
ABOUT
Since 1917, International Fellowships have been available to support women in pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral studies in the United States. These fellowships are specifically designed for non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents who plan to return to their home countries to pursue professional careers. Although the number of awards for studying outside the U.S. is limited, women who are members of Graduate Women International and not from their home country are eligible to apply (please refer to the list of GWI affiliates). The program encompasses both graduate and postgraduate studies at accredited institutions in the United States.
To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must have obtained a bachelor’s degree equivalent to that of the United States by the application deadline. Additionally, they should have already applied to their desired institutions of study at the time of application. Successful recipients are chosen based on their academic achievements and demonstrated dedication to empowering women and girls.
Upon completion of their studies, recipients are expected to return to their home countries and assume leadership roles in various sectors such as business, government, academia, community activism, the arts, or scientific fields.
