Details (GIS Specialist Trainee):
- Successful candidates undergo 1-year training under the scheme.
- After completing the program, candidates receive a permanent employment offer with the Edo State Government.
- Build and maintain GIS databases and Analyze spatial and non-spatial information using GIS software
- Utilize various data types in GIS databases (e.g., text, spreadsheets, latitude and longitude coordinates, tabular data, aerial or satellite imagery)
- Digitize paper maps or map images manually
- Identify spatial relationships and display analysis results using GIS data
- Review GIS data for accuracy and currency
- Document parameters and context of GIS data
- Perform geospatial modeling and spatial analysis
- Create thematic maps for environmental and educational use
- Utilize GIS software to analyze data and generate internal maps
Qualifications
- Education qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum of Second Class Lower or
- HND: Minimum of Lower Credit in any related course.
- Experience in obtaining and applying GPS data with ArcGIS is preferred.
- Candidates must have NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills are essential.
- Ability to effectively work in teams is necessary.
- Age requirement: Applicants must be within 22-30 years old.
- Experience in the use of CAD&GIS Tools is an added advantage.
