Details (GIS Specialist Trainee): 

• Successful candidates undergo 1-year training under the scheme.
• After completing the program, candidates receive a permanent employment offer with the Edo State Government.

Job Description

• Build and maintain GIS databases and Analyze spatial and non-spatial information using GIS software
• Utilize various data types in GIS databases (e.g., text, spreadsheets, latitude and longitude coordinates, tabular data, aerial or satellite imagery)
• Digitize paper maps or map images manually
• Identify spatial relationships and display analysis results using GIS data
• Review GIS data for accuracy and currency
• Document parameters and context of GIS data
• Perform geospatial modeling and spatial analysis
• Create thematic maps for environmental and educational use
• Utilize GIS software to analyze data and generate internal maps

Qualifications

• Education qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum of Second Class Lower or
  • HND: Minimum of Lower Credit in any related course.
• Experience in obtaining and applying GPS data with ArcGIS is preferred.
• Candidates must have NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate.
• Computer literacy is required.
• Good interpersonal and leadership skills are essential.
• Ability to effectively work in teams is necessary.
• Age requirement: Applicants must be within 22-30 years old.
• Experience in the use of CAD&GIS Tools is an added advantage.
