MCGILL UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE BURSARY PROGRAM

McGill University is dedicated to aiding eligible undergraduate students in their academic endeavors by providing financial support. The University’s Entrance Bursary Program grants entrance bursaries to students belonging to low to moderate-income households who can demonstrate a financial necessity.

The program aims to enhance accessibility to the University for individuals who encounter financial difficulties by providing additional financial resources in conjunction with government aid, Indigenous Band Support Funding, part-time employment, parental assistance, and other funding avenues. Those who are eligible to apply include:

• Newly accepted, first-year undergraduate students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.
• Newly accepted, first-year undergraduate students directly entering professional programs in Medicine and Law, provided they have a prior degree.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the Entrance Bursary Program, candidates are required to:

1. Enroll in a University’s full-time degree program.
2. Exhibit financial need, which includes the commitment to seek government student aid and/or Indigenous Band Support Funding.
3. Students who are registered with the Student Accessibility & Achievement may also qualify for financial assistance if they are pursuing a reduced course load.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

We highly advise submitting your application within 30 days after receiving formal acceptance to the University, as the availability of funding for this program is limited and granted on a first-come, first-served basis until resources are depleted.

The application will officially cease accepting submissions on June 30th.

HOW TO APPLY

Once you receive an acceptance notification from the University, either through a formal letter or the Admissions Status page on Minerva, you can access the application on Minerva. To apply for a McGill Entrance Bursary, navigate to the Financial Aid/Awards tab, then the Financial Aid Menu, and select “Apply for a McGill Entrance Bursary.” Proceed to apply to the Entrance Bursary Program and complete the application before submitting it.

For Canadian students (citizens or permanent residents) residing outside of Canada, an additional step is required. They must submit a CSS Financial Aid Profile to Scholarships and Student Aid along with the McGill Minerva aid application.

U.S. students who intend to apply to the Entrance Bursary Program from the University should also submit a CSS Profile in addition to the McGill Minerva aid application.

Similarly, international students (excluding those from the U.S.) who wish to apply to the Entrance Bursary Program from the University need to submit a CSS Profile along with the McGill Minerva aid application.
